Mechanic shot dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a mechanic, wanted for carjacking in Apalit, Pampanga, Monday.

Argel Torres, 30, was fixing his motorcycle when he was shot in front of a bicycle shop in Barangay San Vicente, Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Pampanga police director, said.

The gunmen, who were wearing bonnets, fled toward Bulacan.

Investigators recovered bullet shells and a bullet for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Torres has a warrant issued by Pampanga Judge Ma. Josephine Mercado for violating Republic Act 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of l972, said Superintendent Samuel Sevilla, Apalit police chief.
