Cop accused of hitting man

Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines  – A police official is in trouble for allegedly pistol-whipping a man who allegedly tried to attack him Sunday in Mandurriao district here.

Superintendent Marcelo Bolivar, deputy chief of the Philippine National Police-regional personnel and human resource doctrive division here, denied the accusation.

Bolivar said he was driving in Barangay Bolinao when Renato Laurilla, who appeared to be drunk, hit his vehicle.

He said he pulled out and introduced himself as a police officer to Laurilla, but the latter reportedly attacked him.

“I pushed him away and he fell. Maybe that’s how he got his head injury,” Bolivar said.
