‘Secure release of Sibugay teachers’

The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) yesterday urged authorities to secure the release of two teachers who were snatched Thursday in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Reynadeth  Silano and Russel Bagonoc were on their way to Tuburan Elementary School in Barangay Moalboal when they were snatched by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits at around 7:30 a.m.

“We hope they are safe. We are saddened to hear reports of teachers being kidnapped in Zamboanga Sibugay,” the group said in a statement.

ACT condemned the incident, saying it deprived children of their right to be educated.
