Inmate sets Iloilo police station on fire

MANILA, Philippines - A 17-year-old inmate was accused of starting a fire that damaged a police station in Barotac, Iloilo on Tuesday.

A witness said the inmate, a resident of Barangay Dawis in Ajuy town, threw a lit cigarette on a pile of fishing nets at 4:30 p.m.

The Bureau of Fire Protection was able to put out the flames after an hour. No one was reported injured.

Fire also hit a residential area and a public market in Iloilo on Saturday.

The first fire broke out at past noon in Barangay Arguelles in Jaro district destroying three houses and a seven-door apartment building.

The second fire hit the Dumangas Public Market  around 8 p.m.
