John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines  – The families of four villagers killed in an encounter between Special Action Force commandos and Moro Islamic Liberation Front fighters in Mamasapano town have received financial assistance from boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao and Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu.

The money, amounting to P150,000, was turned over on Wednesday by Mangudadatu’s chief budget officer Lynette Estandarte to the families of the victims.

The victims – six-year-old Sarah Pananggulong, farmers Badrudin Langalan, Mushib Hashim and Mohammad Ambilang – were killed in the crossfire last Jan. 25.

Sarah’s father was wounded in the incident.

The money also benefited five other villagers who were wounded in the encounter.

The cash assistance for Ambilang’s family was received by his  widow Saadah.
