Man, 2 sons nabbed for shooting rampage
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union, Philippines – A man and his two sons tagged in Tuesday’s shooting and hacking rampage in Agoo, La Union were arrested yesterday in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Eduardo Gayo, 65, and his sons Demetrio and Noel were arrested at the house of their relative in Barangay Dulong Bayan, said La Union police director Senior Superintendent Ramon Rafael.
A third son, Ferdinand, was arrested a day after the killing that occurred in Barangay Capas.
The suspects did not resist arrest when police officers and barangay officials picked them up.
The Gayos are facing multiple murder and frustrated murder charges for allegedly killing five of their relatives and wounding three others, said Chief Inspector Artemio Infante, Agoo police chief.
Killed were Reynaldo Refuerzo, 30; his daughter Mary Anne, 3; Gil Cabilitazan, Zosimo Fontanilla and Gilberto Cecilio.
Gilmar Cabilitazan, Rodel Refuerzo and Benjie Tabunia were recuperating at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City.
Infante said the victims suffered gunshot, hack and stab wounds.
Police said the killing was due to a quarrel over a family property. – With Raymund Catindig
