2 dead in motorcycle accident

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A town councilor and a pedestrian were killed and another was injured in a motorcycle accident in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte on Tuesday, police said yesterday. 

Nilo Taruc-Pollescas, 46, a councilor of Siayan town, was declared dead on arrival at the Sindangan District Hospital while Rosie Brigole-Balios, 67, a resident of Barangay Pangalan, died while undergoing treatment in the same hospital.

Police Inspector Dahlan Samuddin, Police Regional Office 9 public information chief, said initial investigation showed that Pollescas was riding his motorcycle with Glorina Marapao Wiss, 44, when they hit Balios around 1 p.m.  

The victims were thrown off the road due to the impact.
