CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – Former Tarlac governor Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco will not run for the province’s top post to avoid clashing with relatives in the 2016 polls.
At a forum with Capampangans in Media Inc. (CAMI) here Friday, Tingting cited reports that Tarlac first district Rep. Enrique Cojuangco would run for Tarlac governor.
If presidential sister Kris Aquino would run for the post as rumored, she would likely face the lawmaker, Tingting said.
Enrique is a cousin of Tingting’s husband, former Rep. Jose “Peping” Cojuangco.
She cited reports that Kris is eyeing not only Tarlac’s top post but also Congress and the Senate.
Earlier, Paniqui Mayor Miguel Cojuangco-Rivilla said a clash among members of the Cojuangco clan is likely in 2016.
Rivilla cited reports that Isabel Cojuangco-Suntay would also run for governor.
“All gubernatorial plans of members of the Cojuangco clan would dissolve once Kris decides to run,” he said.
“Kris will be unbeatable. To win against her in Tarlac is wishful thinking,” Rivilla added.
