NPA leader behind Mati attack captured

MANILA, Philippines —  Security forces captured a leader of the New People's Army (NPA) in Mati City, Davao Oriental on Tuesday.

Army's 10th Division spokesperson 1Lt. Vergel Lacambra  identified the arrested rebel leader as Prince Wendel Olofernes, commander of the NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Committee Sentro de Grabidad Front-18.

Olofernes was wearing a military uniform when he was nabbed at around 6:30 p.m. at Barangay Taguibo.

Olofernes was the NPA platoon leader of the unit that attacked the Mati Police Station last Sunday.
