Aurora mishap leaves 2 dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – Two persons died while three others were injured in a collision involving two motorcycles in Baler, Aurora, Thursday, police reported yesterday.

Ian Amazona, 39, and Junmar Padua, 20, died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Aurora, while Fire Officer 3 Jonalyn Amazona; Mhilver Tablazon, 20, and Eliza Morada, 20, were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

Police said Amazona and his wife, Jonalyn, were on a motorcycle when they bumped into a similar vehicle driven by Padua along the Reserva highway.

Tablazon and Morada were Padua’s backriders.

Meanwhile, in Negros Occidental, a nine-year-old boy died after he was run over by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Bacolod City last Wednesday.

Senior Inspector Benedicto Villarias, commander of the city police’s Station 4, said the boy was crossing the street toward his service vehicle when he was run over by a Mitsubishi Pajero driven by Diane Czarina Ramos, 33.       

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center.

Witnesses told police the SUV was allegedly running at top speed. Ramos surrendered after the accident. – With Danny Dangcalan
