Cop in Bukidnon bomb-throwing incident surrenders

The rookie policeman who reportedly threw a grenade that killed two of superiors surrenders to authorities. 

MANILA, Philippines - The policeman who reportedly threw a grenade that killed two of his superiors and wounded a 15-year-old student in Bukidnon surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon.

PO1 Gorospe Cairo, 34, turned himself in to Cabanglasan Mayor Reynante Enocando and Lantapan Vice Mayor Ernie Devivar after negotiations with the Bukidnon provincial police personnel.

Cairo was accompanied by his father Gonzalo during his surrender at Barangay Iba, Cabangalasan, Bukidnon around 5:30 p.m. 

Cairo is the principal suspect in the grenade-throwing that killed Police Senior Inspector Crisanto Molina,  Cabanglasan chief of police; and his deputy commander Police Inspector Dexter Garcia.

Prior the incident, Molina ordered the relief of Cairo after being tested positive for illegal drug use. The policeman was also disarmed after the results of the drug test.

Cairo  is now facing double murder and frustrated murder charges.
