Robbers attack couple; woman killed

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A woman died while her husband was critically wounded when robbers broke into their home in San Mateo town, Isabela Saturday.

The robbers fled with at least P100,000 in cash, said town police chief Senior Inspector Romeo Pillos.

Reports said the suspects stabbed and bludgeoned Marcelino Peña, 84, and his wife Marcelina, 81, before fleeing.

Neighbors found the couple bloodied at around 7 a.m. Marcelino was reported to be in critical condition at the Santiago City Sanitarium and Hospital.
