Ex-cop, 7 others fall in Rizal drugs bust

MANILA, Philippines - A dismissed policeman and seven other suspects were arrested in an anti-narcotics operation in Rizal province, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as former Police Officer 2 Jefferson Angeles, 33, of Rodriguez, Rizal; Kool Franciso, 31; Francis Al Castillo, 31; Edgardo De Rosas, 38; Raffy  Quebec, 38; Joane Roxas, 35; Emily Francisco 35; and Ivy Jill Adriano,  29.

The PDEA said its operatives in Calabarzon with a team of policemen arrested the suspects in a buy-bust operation at the Bakasyunan Resort along Sampaloc Road, Tanay town last January 29.

The operatives seized during the operation 10 sachets of suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, a handgun without serial number and vehicle with plate number RKD 91.

The suspects have been temporarily detained at the Tanay police station  while cases for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being filed in court against them.

The former policeman, meanwhile, will also be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Act).
