3 die, 1 hurt as truck falls into creek

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines    – Three men died while another was injured when a truck fell into a creek in Sta. Elena town here last Friday, police reported yesterday.

Ruel Requillas, 30; his brother Marvin, 17, and Gerry Mercado, 20, were in a truck loaded with coconuts when they figured in an accident in Purok 3, Barangay Villa San Isidro.

The victims were declared dead on arrival at the Rosary Virgin Mary Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, said Chief Inspector Juancho Ibis, town police chief.

Truck driver Rolando Torres, 49, was brought to the same hospital for treatment of injuries.

Torres reportedly lost control of the wheel as they were traveling toward Barangay Kabuluan.

Meanwhile, a tricycle driver died when his vehicle was hit by a van in Baao own, Camarines Sur Friday.

Luis Bitmal, 57, was declared dead on arrival at the Dr. Robosa Hospital.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide were filed by the police against van driver Ricky Viñas, 30.
