MMDA: Expect another traffic snarl on Friday

Motorists and commuters in Metro Manila should brace for another traffic snarl Friday night as the government continues with its road repairs. 

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday advised motorists and commuters to brace for another traffic snarl on Friday night.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will continue to undertake road reblocking and repairs starting Friday, January 30, 10 p.m. until February 2, at the following areas:

Southbound:

 ·        along Mindanao Avenue from Road 20 to Congressional Avenue, 3rd lane

·        along C.P. Garcia Avenue from E. Jacinto Street to Pook Aguinaldo, 3rd lane

·        along EDSA between Connecticut to Libertad, Mandaluyong City

Northbound: 

 ·        along Quirino Highway from Service Road to Balon Bato, 4th inner lane

Eastbound: 

·        along Batasan Road from DSWD to Payatas Road, 1st inner lane

·        along Congressional Avenue from Edsa to Hereford Street, 2nd lane

·        along Fairview Avenue after Regalado North Avenue and before Yakal Street, 3rd lane

·        along Congressional Avenue Extension before Our Lady Court Subdivision and after Mira Nila Subdivision, 3rd lane, eastbound and westbound

Emerson Carlos, MMDA assistant general manager for operations, said DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson recommended the areas to undergo reblocking and repair this weekend for maintenance purposes.

All affected roads will be fully passable by 5 a.m. on Monday

The MMDA also advised motorists to avoid the affected areas and use alternate routes instead.
