Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Armed men raided a house owned by a municipal councilor and killed his father in Lasam town, Cagayan yesterday.

Witnesses said five armed men dragged Isaac Agatep Jr. from the second floor of the house in Barangay Callao Norte and shot him several times at around 9:30 a.m., said Senior Inspector Leon Umbrero, town police chief.

The victim was the father of Lasam councilor Jay Isaac Agatep III.

Police said the armed men fled in a van, which was later found abandoned in nearby Sto. Niño town.

Last year, the elder Agatep and seven other persons were indicted for alleged involvement in jueteng, based on a complaint filed by Gov. Alvaro Antonio.
