Yolanda survivors in Capiz get P694.7-M housing aid

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released P694.7 million from its Emergency Shelter Assistance fund to three municipalities in Capiz province for victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Of the amount, P477.6 million was released for 15,920 families with damaged houses in Roxas City; P173.6 million for 5,637 families with damaged houses and 450 families with destroyed houses in Panay; and P43.6 million for 4,457 families with damaged houses in Pontevedra.

The checks were turned over to the municipal treasurers of the three towns on Tuesday. Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo and the towns’ respective municipal and city social welfare and development officers witnessed the turnover of the checks.
