MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has asked the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to release the P772 million to pay its obligations to around 40,000 police pensioners.
PNP officer-in-charge, Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, directed Police Director Rolando Purugganan, Director for Comptrollership, to coordinate with the DBM to seek the immediate release of the pension funds.
Purugganan said the amount represents six-month pension differentials due to 40,728 PNP pensioners to pay for the first tranche of the Pension Adjustment for January to June 2010 under the Salary Standardization Law.
In a letter dated Dec. 29, 2014, the DBM Undersecretary Luz Cantor informed the PNP that the fund request is still being processed.
