‘Amang’ leaves 2 dead, 1 hurt in Camarines
CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Two persons were killed while another was injured when Tropical Storm Amang hit this province Sunday.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the storm triggered landslides in three areas in the province.
Arlene Aguilar, 49, was declared dead on arrival at the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital after her family’s house was buried in a mudslide in Barangay Matanlang, Paracale town.
Aguilar’s daughter Rona Mae, 17, was injured and was brought to the same hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy drowned in the town of Jose Panganiban, a report submitted to the office of Mayor Ricarte Padilla said.
Authorities said two houses were destroyed in another landslide in the villages of Sta. Rosa and Sta. Elena, both in Jose Panganiban town.
The PDRRMO said close to 2,000 families or 8,000 individuals were evacuated due to flash floods.
Gov. Edgardo Tallado suspended classes in all levels on Monday.
