Power outage to hit Bataan towns, city

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Balanga City and several towns in Bataan province will experience a power interruption lasting from a few minutes to nine hours today to give way to repairs of their power cooperative’s facilities.

The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Penelco), the province’s power distributor, said the power outage would start from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani and Samal.

“This is to give way to the annual preventive maintenance of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines at the Hermosa substation, and for Penelco’s replacement of a power post,” an advisory issued by Penelco said.

From 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., the towns of Limay, Orion, Pilar, Bagac and Morong, including the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant and RGS Ice Plant, will have no power due to Penelco’s shifting of mirror substations to NGCP’s Limay substation.”

From 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. power outages are expected in Balanga City and the towns of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay and Barangays Saba, Daan Bago, Layac, and Balsik in Dinalupihan.

The advisory said from 5 p.m., these areas will again experience another power interruption due to Penelco’s shifting of mirror substations to NGCP’s Hermosa substation.

The NGCP said normal operations would resume as soon as the repairs are completed.
