MANILA, Philippines - Earthquakes rocked parts of Luzon and the Visayas yesterday but no damage or injuries were reported, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quakes of magnitudes 5.3, 4 and 4.1 occurred at 1:09 p.m., 8:02 a.m., and 5:56 a.m., respectively.
The epicenter of the magnitude-5.3 tremor was located 19 kilometers northwest of Calatagan, Batangas.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Paluan, Oriental Mindoro; Intensity 2 in Quezon City and Intensity 1 in Puerto Galera.
Phivolcs said aftershocks were expected from this quake.
The magnitude-4 quake was located three kilometers northwest of Antequera, Bohol, where it was felt at Intensity 4. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Tagbilaran City and Loay town and Intensity 2 in Cebu City.
Earlier, a magnitude-4.1 tremor shook Virac, Catanduanes. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Legaspi City and Sorsogon City, and Intensity 2 on Lignon Hill, in Legaspi City and Virac.
