Van falls into ravine; 12 Korean tourists hurt

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Twelve Korean tourists and a Filipino driver were injured when their vehicle fell into a 60-meter-deep ravine in  Tanauan City in Batangas yesterday morning.

The victims were identified as Emmanuel Perez, Kim Jong Wook, Jang Heung Book, Pakk Sang il, Lee Hae Kil, Aw Byung Jow, Song Dae Seob, Shin Kung Ho, So Hyun Kuu, So Misok, Hwang Hei Sung, Kim Dae Jin and Song Jong Hak.

Police said the victims had minor injuries except Song, who suffered serious head and neck injuries.

The victims were in a van with plate number TYY-772 on their way to Tagaytay when the driver lost control of the wheel at 9:14 a.m., said Superintendent Christopher Olazo, Tanauan City police chief.

Olazo said the victims were brought to the Unihealth Hospital in Tagaytay City.
