2 wounded in Batangas shooting

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Two persons, including a bakeshop owner, were seriously wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay As-Is, Laurel, Batangas, police said yesterday.

The shooting occurred when businessman Joel Natanauan retaliated when two men shot him in front of his shop at around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to Senior Inspector Simeon Aldovino, Laurel police chief.

Aldovino told The STAR Natanauan scolded the two men when he saw them loitering near his store prior to the shooting.

Natanauan, who suffered gunshot wounds in the body, was brought to the Reyes Hospital in Tanauan City. His attacker, identified as Vonier Rivera, was brought to the Sto. Tomas General Hospital.

Police have launched a manhunt for Rivera’s companion, identified as Jeffrey Subido.
