Baguio temperature dips further

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The temperature in Baguio City yesterday dipped further to 11 degrees Celsius, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

It was the coldest in the country’s summer capital since the northeast monsoon or amihan season set in last October, the agency said.

PAGASA said the lowest temperature was recorded at 2 a.m.

The lowest temperature recorded in Baguio City was 6.3 degrees Celsius on Jan. 18, 1961, the weather bureau said.

In Metro Manila, the temperature fell to 20.3 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m. yesterday, PAGASA said. The coldest recorded since the start of the amihan season was 19 degrees Celsius on Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau said Tropical Storm Seniang left the Philippine area of responsibility before noon yesterday.

PAGASA said the tail end of a cold front would still bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas in the next 24 hours.

The regions of Bicol, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa will have cloudy skies with light rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the whole archipelago will have moderate to rough sea conditions.
