Van seized in Zambo drug raid traced back to Cavite

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A van that was among the two vehicles recovered in a drug raid in Zamboanga City was traced to be a vehicle stolen almost three years ago in Cavite, police said Friday.

Police Superintendent Ariel Huesca, chief of the Public Safety Company, said the van, a Toyota Hi-Ace with plate number TIO-993, was recovered during the drug raid at Barangay Recodo last December 26, which also led to the arrest of four notorious illegal drug pushers. Also recovered were money amounting to more than P1.7 million pesos, drug paraphernalia and another sports utility vehicle.

Huesca said the discovery came following their verification at the Highway Patrol Unit through its  Vehicle Information Management System.

He said the van was traced to be owned by a certain Rogelio G. Flores of Barangay Queen’s Row East, Bacoor, Cavite and that it was carnapped last Jan. 11, 2013 and brought to Mindanao.

Police are now coordinating with the owner of the recovered van.
