Boy, 7, hit by stray bullet in Laguna
MANILA, Philippines - A seven-year-old boy was wounded after a stray bullet hit the back of his head while inside their home in Laguna province on Sunday.
Initial reports said that Isaac Ruda was playing inside their home in Barangay Bagong Silang, Lumban town, when he was hit by the stray bullet.
The wounded boy was immediately rushed to the Christian General Hospital in Pagsanjan town for treatment.
Authorities arrested jail guard Mario Cortez, 56, of the Laguna provincial jail hours after the incident.
Witnesses told local police that they saw the drunk Cortez, firing his cal.22 gun that day.
The jail guard was previously charged with and jailed for indiscriminate firing but was freed on bail.
Cortez was tested positive for gunpowder burn when he underwent paraffin test.
