2 miners gunned down in Camarines Norte

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Two miners were killed and another was wounded when two men shot them in Sitio Maning in Barangay Casalugan, Paracale, Camarines Norte on Monday. 

Chief Inspector Rommel Labarro identified the fatalities as Gregorio Nicodemos, 57, and Niño Nicodemos, 21, both residents of Purok 1 in Barangay Dalnac.

 Bayani Inalisan, 51, who suffered gunshot wounds in the forearm and thigh, is confined at the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital.

A witness identified the gunmen as Mark Anthony Viilaflores, 30, and Louie Vergara, 24, both residents of Barangay Parang in Jose Panganiban town, from a photo lineup.

Investigators said the miners were preparing to dig an abandoned mining pit when the suspects fired at them. Police launched a manhunt for the suspects.
