2 municipal execs face gun charges
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two municipal councilors are facing separate gun-related charges following a raid in La Union and a shooting in Luna, Isabela yesterday.
La Union police director Senior Superintendent Ramon Rafael said the raiding team recovered an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol and bullets from the house of Noel Estalillia of Caba town.
Rafael said Estalillia was the principal suspect in the killing of Christopher Florague last Nov.14.
Rafael said vengeance was the motive for the killing of Florague, who was convicted and released for the murder of Estalillia’s brother more than 10 years ago.
Meanwhile, in Isabela, police launched a manhunt for Jaypee Rosete for the shooting and wounding a guest at a wedding.
Town police chief Senior Inspector Mario Fajardo said Rosete and his group fled after allegedly shooting Joseph Andres, 27, who reportedly made a pass on the councilor’s female friend.
Authorities recovered bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.
Andres was taken to the Ester Garcia Hospital in Cauayan City for treatment.
