5 dead, 16 hurt in Bukidnon mishap

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – Five persons died while 16 others were injured when a shipping container van became detached from a truck and rammed a passenger jeepney Sunday in Talakag, Bukidnon.

Ethel Talaro, Irish Mae Napay and Blezel Cornita died at the scene while village Councilor Ricardo Dapay and Eleanor Talaro died while being treated in a hospital.

Reports said the truck was traveling in Barangay San Isidro when its container got detached and rammed the jeepney with 27 passengers.

Among the injured victims was the jeepney driver, who was listed in critical condition at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center.
