The Philippine Star

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) leader, who has a P2.5-million bounty on his head, was arrested by police and military agents in Pantukan, Compostela Valley Sunday night.

Jordan Donillo, alias Noli or Estong, was arrested in Barangay Magnaga for charges of double murder, multiple frustrated murder and robbery in band.

Donillo was said to be the commander of the NPA-Guerilla Front 18 operating in the province.

He was first arrested in 2002 for the same charges but was rescued by his comrades as he was being taken to Tagum City for the arraignment of his cases.

Donillo reportedly led the attacks on the San Isidro municipal police station in 2007 and the  Davao Oriental provincial jail in Mati City in 2008.

The suspect was also blamed for the attacks on a police station in 2008 and a military patrol base in 2009, and the burning of passenger buses, all in Banay-Banay town.

Maj. Gen. Eduardo Año, chief of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, lauded the police and soldiers for Donillo’s arrest.

Año said the arrest was a “major victory in the campaign to bring justice to the victims of the NPA.”

Donillo is detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit cell here.
