Danny B. Dangcalan - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Police have launched a manhunt for a village councilman who reportedly shot dead a man and wounded another in a quarrel over a cockfight in Victorias City, Negros Occidental  Wednesday.

City police chief Superintendent Santiago Rapiz identified the suspect as Nory Solinap, of Barangay 10, and the victims as Richard Basco, 25, and Joel Gustilo, 48.

Basco was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to three gunshot wounds while Gustilo was treated for a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Rapiz said Solinap got angry after learning that his father-in-law lost in the cockfight.

Solinap reportedly suspected that the victims, who were fighting cock handlers, cheated his in-law.

Rapiz said the suspect shot the victims with a caliber .45 pistol as they were having drinks at around 6:20 p.m.
