Misamis farmers receive land certificates

Rhodina Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A total of 1,382 hectares of agricultural lands have been distributed to farmers in Misamis Occidental, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said over the weekend.

DAR Undersecretary Jose Grageda said that certificates of landownership awards (CLOAs) were given to 1,469 agrarian reform beneficiaries during the province’s 85th anniversary recently.

Grageda said the government’s support for farmers under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) does not end in the distribution of lands, as the beneficiaries also get support services to enhance their way of life.

“The DAR, Department Of Agriculture, the Land Bank of the Philippines and other CARP-implementing agencies work together to ensure that the program beneficiaries will have better lives after receiving their land titles,” Grageda said.

He said these support services include facilitating agrarian loans from Landbank and other assistance that could help strengthen the farmers’ lives and their cooperatives.
