Senator's staff hurt in Manila street robbery

MANILA, Philippines - A female staff of Sen. JV Ejercito was wounded after an armed robber shot her while on board a taxicab in Manila, Wednesday night.

A radio report said that Kathleen Tan was with two other staff members of the senator inside a cab along Quirino Avenue when two armed men riding on a motorcycle suddenly opened the door of the taxi and took their bags and mobile phones at gunpoint. 

One the men shot Tan on the leg before the suspects sped away, the report added. 

Tan was immediately rushed to the Philippine General Hospital for medical treatment. 

Police are still investigating the incident.
