Ex-soldier nabbed for extortion in ComVal

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a former Army private for extorting money from a woman in Compostela Valley, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said on Wednesday. 

CIDG Chief Director Benjamin Magalong said operatives of the CIDG Eastern Mindanao collared ex-Army Private Jonnifer Jaminilio Huesca during a sting operation inside a restaurant at Purok 10, Poblacion Nabunturan on Tuesday.

Huesca's arrest stemmed from a complaint of Arcel Asoy Torrenueva, alleging that the suspect has been threatening and harassing her for money. 

She said that the suspect promised to stop harassing her if she pays him P50,000.

During the operation, CIDG operatives nabbed Huesca as he received the money from the complainant.

Huesca is now facing robbery and extortion charges before a local court.
