BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – An owner of a sugarcane plantation was shot dead by one of three men who robbed her at gunpoint in Murcia town, Negros Occidental Friday.

Ma. Theresa Bernardita Locsin, 56, was declared dead on arrival at the Doctor’s Hospital in Bacolod City, said Police Officer 3 George Romo.

Locsin and her helper Alexander Ibañez, 31, were inspecting her farm in Barangay Sta. Rosa at around 10:30 a.m. when three men approached them and declared a holdup.

The victim reportedly resisted, prompting the gunman to shoot her while her helper escaped.

Ibañez said he heard four gunshots. He returned and found his employee bloodied.

The suspects took the victim’s wallet and phone.
