CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The chiefs of police of Cavite’s two cities have been removed from their posts, sources said yesterday.
Superintendent Redrico Maranan was replaced by Superintendent Glen Dumlao as chief of the Imus City police, while Superintendent Carlos Barde was replaced by Superintendent Hermogenes Cabe as Dasmariñas City police chief, sources said.
Cabe was the former head of the provincial police’s special anti-drug unit.
A senior police officer, who requested anonymity, said Dumlao was endorsed by a politician and a former governor to replace Maranan.
Last week, Joselito Esquivel was removed as Cavite police director and replaced by Senior Superintendent Jonnel Estomo, who was designated as officer-in-charge.
Chief Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Calabarzon police director, refused to comment on allegations that politics had been behind the relief of Maranan and Barde.
Gatchalian said Maranan has been at his post for longer than the required period while the city government of Dasmariñas wanted Barde replaced.
