MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) nabbed a former member of the defunct Philippine Constabultary (PC) and an accomplice in a sting operation in Zamboanga City.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the ex-PC member as Habagat Wee Bas, 47, of Alejo Alvarez Street, Barangay Zone 1, Zamboanga City; and his accomplice Dennie Ammal Lee, 49, of 2nd Street, Riverdale Village, Governor Ramos Avenue, Zamboanga City.

Operatives of PDEA Regional Office 9 arrested the suspects after selling a plastic sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer in Lee’s neighborhood in Governor Ramos Avenue before noon of November 16.

Four more sachets of suspected shabu were seized from Bas and Lee.

The seized illegal drug has an estimated weight of 25 grams valued at P40,000.

Bas reportedly tried to elude arrest by leaping from the second floor window of their rented room and climbed over the shards of broken glass protruding on the neighbor’s fence.

He was later brought to the nearest hospital for immediate treatment.

During the investigation, Bas said he is a former PC member dismissed from service.
