2 kids hacked to death in Laguna

LAGUNA, Philippines – Two children were reportedly hacked to death as they were sleeping at home in Rizal town here before dawn Saturday.

The bodies of Shiela Monicea, 12, and her brother Sherwin Jay, 10, were found with hack wounds in the neck at around 2 a.m. in Barangay Tuy, said Inspector Roselle Orate, spokesperson for the Laguna provincial police.

Hours later, police arrested Allan Jed Aquino, 21, at his home in Barangay Pauli 2, also in Rizal town. Witnesses identified him as the man they saw leaving the victims’ house minutes before the crime was discovered.

Investigators said the suspect had a grudge against the children’s father, Cesar.
