TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Unable to bear his wife’s death, a 78-year-old man killed himself at her wake in Barangay Cagayungan, Narvacan town, Ilocos Sur Thursday night.
Visitors scampered when Crisanto Cabanting Sr. shot himself in the head using a caliber .45 pistol, said Police Officer 3 Jay Callejo.
Relatives said Cabanting might have been scared of facing life alone after his wife, Antonia, died of illness.
Police took custody of Cabanting’s pistol, whose license expired last March.
