5 cops tagged in student’s death

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet , Philippines – Five police officers of the Cordilleras have been tagged in the death of a 19-year-old college student they reportedly picked up in Bontoc, Mountain Province last Nov. 4.

Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez, director of the Cordillera police, identified the police officers as Senior Police Officers 4 Rolando Bagangan and Michael Napaeg, Senior Police Officer 3 Lester Faba-an, Senior Police Officer 2 Gaspar Suagen and Police Officer 3 Raul Fagsao.

Stephen Galidan of the Mountain Province Polytechnic College died in a hospital 10 hours after he reportedly jumped out of a police car. He was reportedly picked up for creating trouble in a bar.

Galidan was allegedly drunk and seen holding a bottle of liquor when he came out of the bar along with Roldan Banwa and Carmelo Charles Bautista.

Banwa and Bautista escaped while Galidan surrendered. But before reaching the police station, he reportedly jumped from the police car.
