Boy dies in Negros mishap

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A 13-year-old boy died while nine others were injured when their tricycle collided with a motorcycle in La Castellana town, Negros Occidental Thursday night, police reported yesterday.

Inspector Dadje Delima, deputy chief of the La Castellana police, identified the fatality as CJ Sajasan of Barangay Sag-ang and the injured victims as tricycle driver Raffy Mirasol, 29; his relatives Leomar, 32; Rochelle, 29; John Edward, 4; Yuan, 7; Christyl May, 4; Manilyn Morales, 27; Vincent Dinoras, 13, and motorcycle driver Reggie Diaz, 19, all of Hacienda Isabel, Barangay Sag-ang.

Police said Mirasol and his passengers were on their way to La Carlota City when he reportedly tried to overtake two trucks and collided with Diaz’s motorcycle.

Sajasan was declared dead on arrival at the Elumba Clinic in La Castellana where he was taken along with the other victims.

Diaz was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for treatment.
