Student killed in gun attack

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A 20-year-old student was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Silang, Cavite last Friday, police reported yesterday.

Raymond Quintero, a third year psychology student at the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology in General Mariano Alvarez town, died while being treated at the Mazenod Hospital for two gunshot wounds.

Case investigator Police Officer 1 James Mark Lapinid told The STAR Quintero had just stepped out of their house in Barangay Bulihan when two men shot him at close range at around 11 p.m.

Although wounded, the victim managed to run away but the assailants gave chase to finish him off.

Lapinid said among the motives eyed for Quintero’s murder are personal grudge and love problems.

Witnesses told probers that the assailants had been seen around the victim’s house three days before the killing.
