Parents want kids back in old P’sinan school
BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan, Philippines – Parents of students of the Bayambang Central School here want their children to be allowed to go back to the old school site in Barangay Poblacion here, so they are helping rehabilitate the BCS.
Filipinas Alcantara, president of the school’s Parents-Teachers Association, told The STAR on Wednesday that they volunteered to help repair the classrooms, which were abandoned due to a land swap deal entered into by the local government.
The parent’s move encouraged others, particularly members of the school alumni association, to give their share to save BCS.
Alcantara said they aim to finish the repair of 60 classrooms by Christmas.
“They are happy because our wish to return to the old site is starting to be realized. Our efforts are now bearing fruit,” Alcantara said.
She said former fifth district congressman Mark Cojuangco pledged to give P1 million and the Samahang Industriya at Agrikultura led by Engr. Rosendo So committed to give P400,000 for the school.
