Baguio temperature drops to 14.2 ºC
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The temperature dropped yesterday morning to 14.2 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far since the signature Baguio Christmas chill started last month.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday morning’s chill was two notches lower than Wednesday’s P16.5 degrees Celsius.
Even long-time Baguio resident Irene Bungay felt the morning chill.
“It’s really too cold,” she said.
PAGASA’s forecast said yesterday’s 14.2 degree would likely remain until today but will climb slightly to 15 degrees on Sunday until Wednesday next week.
At midday, the temperature climbed up to 24 degrees, but this is expected to drop again by nightfall.
The chill is expected to reach 10 degrees Celsius starting Thursday next week, lasting for at least three more days and remaining at 10 to 11 degrees for the next five days toward mid-November.
Nearby Benguet province, which is further north, usually posts a temperature two degrees lower than Baguio City’s.
A visitor from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) said Wednesday night was really cold.
The city’s second coldest temperature this year was recorded on Jan. 9 at 11.5 degrees Celsius. Baguio City recorded the coldest temperature in its history on Jan. 19, 1961 at 6.3 degrees Celsius.
