Michelle Zoleta - The Philippine Star

CAMP Nakar, Lucena City, Philippines – One of the suspects involved in alleged initiation rites of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity that resulted in a neophyte’s death surrendered to the Quezon police yesterday.

Senior Inspector Reynaldo Reyes, chief of the Tagkawayan police, refused to reveal the identity of the suspect, who was allegedly one of 11 men involved in the hazing that killed Ariel Enofre, a former student of the Southern Luzon State University.

The hazing reportedly occurred in Barangay Mapulot last Oct. 17.

Reyes said the suspect is willing to cooperate in the investigation.

Enofre died of kidney failure and infection at the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City, Camarines Norte last Sunday.

His parents, Anaclito and Lourdes, said they were not aware that their son joined a fraternity and underwent hazing.
