BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Climate Change Commissioner Heherson Alvarez and his aide, Bernadette Felix, were injured in a road accident at the boundary of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto towns in Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan, director of Negros Occidental police, said Alvarez was on his way to San Carlos City to visit a solar farm when the accident occurred.

Senior Inspector Norberto Barniso, Murcia town police chief, said the victims were in a Mitsubishi Montero when its driver, John Ci-O, 38, tried to avoid an approaching motorcycle and hit a 10-wheeler truck parked at the roadside.

Ci-O and another passenger, Raffy Taguihanon, an employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, were unhurt.
