42 hurt in La Union bus mishap

BAUANG, La Union, Philippines – Forty-two passengers were injured when their bus crashed into a mango tree in Barangay Paringao here yesterday morning.

The bus (AYU-463), which was heading for Bangued, Abra from Baguio City, reportedly overtook another vehicle.

Bus driver Henry Capia-ao reportedly lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit the tree at around 9 a.m.

Capia-ao was brought to the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center for treatment, along with the other injured passengers.

Ten of the victims suffered serious injuries: Helen Bughong, Jose Pedro, Marilou Florendo, Rhis Florendo, Rose Diyap, Julius Tangalin, Trinidad Benitez, William Mamaril, bus conductor Ruel Urpiano and Capia-ao.
