Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A bomb threat on Monday morning briefly disrupted classes in one of the buildings inside the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

Based on the report of the Quezon City Police District, the threat, sent via text message, was received by Jett Padernal, chairman of the UP Diliman Student Council, at around 7:50 a.m.

"Mag-ingat sa bomb sa gusaling 'Virata.' Oras na lang  ang binibilang. Walang ligtas estudyante man o guro," the text message read.

After receiving the text message, Padernal informed the school administrators of the  Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business (VSB), formerly known as the College of Business Administration (CBA), who in turn reported to the police.

Members of the QCPD explosive and ordnance division arrived at the building at around 8:55 a.m. and started clearing the premises after the school personnel and students evacuated the area.

After almost half an hour of paneling, the bomb disposal team declared the building safe.

Last Friday, the classes at the World Citi Colleges along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, were also disrupted due a bomb threat. No explosive device was found by authorities in the school's premises.
