Village exec shoots pal

BUENAVISTA, Quezon, Philippines – A barangay councilor reportedly shot dead his drinking buddy over a quarrel here last Friday.

Gerry Centes, 42, surrendered to the authorities after allegedly killing Erwin Ortiz, said Quezon police director Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Ylagan.

Investigators said Centes, Ortiz and another friend were having drinks at the suspect’s house in Barangay Mabutag at around 10:30 p.m.

A quarrel broke out between Centes and Ortiz, which reportedly drove the suspect to pull out a gun and shoot the victim in the head.

The suspect is detained at the municipal jail.
