MANILA, Philippines - At least 53,000 farming families were recipients of P2.5-billion in aid from the Italian government.
Italian Assistance to the Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (IARCDSP) manager Pabil Marohomsalic said the assistance is aimed at developing rural communities in Mindanao.
The IARCDSP began in February 2013 under a memorandum of agreement signed by the Department of Agrarian Reform and the Italian government. It is part of the European Union’s contribution to the peace process in Mindanao.
“We have started validating the areas to be covered and consulted the local leaders on the immediate needs of their communities,” Marohomsalic said.
